To respect safety requirements on their exploration drilling program, a notable mine corporation acquired a 6 meters rod handler from Maxidrill.
Their program included holes at approximately 10° angle (nearly horizontal) with a carousel drill rig. As the hole depth overpassed the capacity of the carousel, they had to come up with a solution that allowed safe drill operation without affecting performances.
For this application, Maxidrill added a diesel power pack to the rod handler package. In doing so, they could install the unit directly on a rod trailer.
With the wireless controller, they can operate the rod handler from a safe distance with excellent visibility.
